Texans, testify TODAY for Mexican American Studies via email by 5 pm! Unite for a mutlicultural, multimedia Tejas.

by Tony D on 01/28/14

This is a rare opportunity to make history for our History.

Due to bad weather, the Texas Education Agency is accepting your testimony via email. Send them a note to support Mexican American Studies by the end of today (our deadline) and demand that they reschedule in-person testimony as well.

Send your email to: sboesupport@tea.state.tx.us

Tell them that "the SBOE must move the Mexican American Studies Course from the "Wish List" and put it on the "To Do" list for implementation."

Friday, January 31, 2014, in Austin, Texas the Texas State Board of Education is scheduled to vote on course implementation. They should move that date, too, based on inclement weather preventing all Texans from testifying in perons. Those courses will get committees and a timeline to become official.

Here is some context:

10 Myths the Texas State Board of Education (TX SBOE) Uses to Kill Mexican American Studies

Who is your TX SBOE rep? Find out here:

Here are just a few reasons why Mexican American Courses are needed:

1.) Of the 4.9 million students in Texas 51% are Hispanic.
2.) When Tucson Unified School District implemented Mexican American Studies the graduation rates rose to 93%
3.) We have waited long enough. The time is now.
